Sustainable awareness Sessions

A series of six sustainability sessions was held by the Khanya East team. Principals and LAN administrators were invited to these sessions in which large amounts of information were distributed.

The workshop program was put together to showcase to schools what is available in terms of technology. Benefits of ICT at schools were highlighted.

The focus of these workshops was to emphasize the part of the Khanya vision that schools should ultimately take full ownership of IT equipment and its future sustainability. Schools were made aware of how to plan for the future when new becomes old equipment and maintenance becomes an expensive issue.

Participants during these workshops: Ingrid Graham, John April, Mark Williams, Andre Pietersen, Denric Blaauw, David Mathe, Ricky Esterhuizen and East team.

From a workshop point of view it was mostly a success. The efforts, however, do not end with these workshops. The real success would be when we see that the schools implement what they were shown. The team of facilitators are available to assist schools. It just depends whether the schools are willing to move. Amoy Khanya East facilitator
